What kind of movie would I like to make and why?
If I had virtually infinite resources, I would love to create a crime thriller movie that takes cues not only from the gangster genre, but the film noir genre as well. I've always found these genres of film to be the most enthralling, having a unique capacity for storytelling that confronts some of humanities' greatest issues whilst providing the audience with an entertaining and captivating plot. I'd want to draw inspiration from movies like Reservoir Dogs (1992) and Drive (2011), two movies that I've thoroughly enjoyed the cinematography, writing, and world-building of. A movie that partly lends itself into the conventions of film noir that I find to be a spectacle of amazing cinematography is the 2022 version of The Batman the use of lighting to create gritty and pessimistic tone that, if I were to make a movie, would love to encapsulate. I would want this movie to achieve similar effects and create a touching narrative that can be critiqued and analyzed for years to come. I would also want to include elements of action movies in well choreographed and intense fight scenes that take inspiration from the Equalizer and John Wick movie series. For a unique flare, I'd want the dialogue of the movie to be simple, but punctual, focusing on the idea of "showing" the audience and not "telling" them. This would be done with the intent of creating a movie that's more subjective and open to viewer interpretation. I believe that having the ability to be interpreted in multiple ways and analyzed thoroughly is the most important quality a movie can have, and I'd want to capture that magic in that film if I were to make it.
